Food Drama

I’ve mentioned here before that Sadie has never been too fond of food.  Baby food, table food, bland food, sweet food, she really doesn’t love any of it unless it is Cheerios.  We were doing really well for about 2 weeks and I thought we were in a nice routine of her consistently eating breakfast and dinner.  She wasn’t eating a lot, about the equivalent of half a jar of baby food at each meal, but at least she was eating something.  Three days ago she decided she isn’t going to open her mouth for any food except Cheerios.  I’ve tried, Kyle has tried, I tried to just give her the spoon so she can feed herself.  Nothing is working.  She is on a total food strike, with the exception of her beloved Cheerios.  She won’t even eat those puffs things.  The pediatrician told me not to fight her on it so now that it’s been three days of me making food and her rejecting it before it even gets into her mouth, I’ve decided to change my approach at meal time around here.  My new approach is to put as many foods that she can eat as possible on her tray, along with some Cheerios and hope that she gets at least one bite of something else.  So far, I’m not sure if she has gotten anything in her mouth but I did see her pick up a noodle and a little peach piece today.  Baby steps, baby steps.

Tuesday night I went out with some friends for dinner and Kyle was home with the girls.  On Wednesday I found these two videos on my camera and laughed hysterically.  This is what we are up against.  My favorite part is when Kyle says, “OK, but don’t tell mom!”

Poor Baby, you made her sit in the corner because she wouldn't eat the carrots.

She is too cute! Ramona eats food, but will often protest eating anything until she's had an enormous pile of puffs. We easily can go through a container a day.
