5:00 Dance Party

Ahhh, 5:00.  That dreaded time of the day when dinner isn’t quite done, Daddy isn’t home yet, and the TV show I’ve put on for the girls at 4:30 is over.  I’m always busy working to put the finishing touches on dinner and frequently have one girl hanging on my legs screaming and the other following me around asking, “Is dinner ready yet?”  in the most whiny voice  possible.  On most days I am out of patience by this point and my coping strategy of late is to crank the I-pod up as loud as I can to drown out some of the noise.  The first time I tried this, both girls immediately stopped screaming and started dancing.  Much to my delight, they danced around the kitchen for 20 minutes until dinner was ready.  I tried it again the next day, with the same results!  I was thrilled!  We now have a 5:00 dance party nearly every day.  Hannah asks for only the fast songs and both girls have quite the moves.  It’s the little things in life that make them happy…especially when I join in!
